Der Neubau des Firmengebäudes der STORZ MEDICAL Deutschland GmbH ist fertig gestellt. Anfang September 2021 konnten die Mitarbeitenden die neuen Räumlichkeiten in Jena beziehen. Das vom Schweizer Hauptsitz inspirierte Gebäude wurde in einer Rekordzeit von 14 Monaten vom Spatenstich bis zum Einzug errichtet. Auf einer Gesamtfläche von über 1280 m2 erstrecken sich die Räumlichkeiten. Besucher erwartet hier eine transparente Struktur, offene Glasfronten und luftige Räume.

Eine im Januar 2022 publizierte Studie von Matt et al. (Medizinische Universität Wien, Universitätsklinik für Neurologie) untersucht die Langzeiteffekte der Transkraniellen Pulsstimulation (TPS®) mit dem NEUROLITH®-System auf das menschliche Gehirn und Verhalten.1 Die randomisierte, placebokontrollierte und doppelt verblindete Studie liefert erstmals einen scheinkontrollierten Nachweis für entsprechende Effekte.

Die Transkranielle Pulsstimulation (TPS®) feiert Premiere in der Ukraine: Am 12. Januar 2022 wurde das erste NEUROLITH®-System in der westukrainischen Kulturmetropole Lwiw (deutsch Lemberg, ca. 750.000 Einwohner) installiert. Ab sofort können sich Alzheimer-Patienten bei »BRAINSPOT LVIV«, einer Klinik für Neuromodulation (Leitung: Tomas Dzeminskyy, Leitender Arzt: Andrii Hul), behandeln lassen. Die ersten Therapiesitzungen haben bereits stattgefunden.

Neue Lancet-Studie warnt vor Verdreifachung weltweiter Demenzfälle bis 2050

Anfang Januar 2022 wurde in der medizinischen Fachzeitschrift The Lancet Public Health1 eine vielbeachtete Studie zur Entwicklung der weltweiten Demenz-Prävalenz publiziert. Diese sagt bis zum Jahr 2050 eine Verdreifachung der Fallzahlen auf 152,8 Millionen voraus. Zu einer ähnlichen Einschätzung kam bereits der World Alzheimer Report 2019. Die wichtigsten Faktoren für diese explosive Entwicklung sind die Alterung der weltweiten Bevölkerung sowie deren weiteres Wachstum.
